Teen Suicide.
Teen suicide is a serious problem. People that suffer from depression and anxiety mostly commit suicide. It varies amoung teen's ages, race, and sex. It is statistically shown that teenagers that are Hispanic females have a higer percentage in all of the catagories. they have a higher percent in feeling sad or hopeless, seriously considering attempting suicide, making a suicide plan, attempting suicide, and suicide attempted treatement by a doctor or nurse. Also, female 9th graders have a higher percentage in all catagories. Also, Texas is has the higest percentage for sad and hopeless feeling teens. Wyoming has the highest percentage of teens that have seriously considered attenpting suicide.
One of the largest problems is that teens have gun avalibility. Among methods of suicide, firearms are typically the most lethal. A study in Canada found that 92 percent of gun attempts result in death, compared to 78 percent of attempts using carbon monoxide or hanging, 67 percent of drowning attempts, and 23 percent of intentional drug overdoses. A study from Dallas found that of those attempting suicide with a gun, 76 percent died, while only 4 percent of those who attempted suicide by other means died.
Since the 1960's the suicidal rate amounst teens has increase steadily. Teens usually fall into 3 different catagories; well-adjusted, but living in stressful conditions; depressed or anxious; or impulsive, aggressive, or self-destructive.
Overall, teen suicide is a serious problem that i believe people can stop. If parents pay more attention to what their kids are doing, it may save their child's life. Also, students that are impacted by positvie teens can share that with teens that may suffer from depression. You can make a difference in someone's life. Make the choice.
